Who we are
Ubaid Bandukra is the founder and sole attorney of Bandukra Law. He is admitted to practice in New York and Texas and operates the firm from Oceanside, on the south shore of Long Island.
The firm's estate planning work falls into two main areas. The first is Islamic estate planning for Muslim families seeking wills or trusts that follow Shariah inheritance rules, the 1/3 wasiyyah cap, and burial directives consistent with their faith, drafted to remain valid and enforceable under New York or Texas law. The second is traditional estate planning for families looking to avoid Surrogate's Court probate, plan for incapacity, or protect assets against future long-term care costs through Medicaid planning.
Bandukra Law also handles residential and commercial real estate closings and small business legal matters, from LLC formation and operating agreements to the purchase or sale of a business.
Before law school, Mr. Bandukra spent 13 years in real estate development and operations, including a tenure as Director of Real Estate Operations at S&S Group. That operational background informs the firm's approach to leases and contracts, particularly with respect to which provisions are most likely to be tested when a transaction encounters difficulty.
Mr. Bandukra earned his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law, where he served as a Real Estate Fellow at the Mattone Family Institute for Real Estate Law. He holds a B.S. in Operations Management from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Most engagements are quoted flat-fee at the outset, so clients understand the cost of representation before the engagement letter is signed. Meetings are available at the Oceanside office, by Zoom, or by phone, with evening availability for clients whose schedules require it.
